Woodshed’s new film 180 South out now, Soundtrack out on Brushfire Records June 22nd

About The Film:

Adventurer Jeff Johnson strikes so deeply into the heart of Patagonia’s wilderness that we come to feel at home there. Retracing the epic 1968 journey of his hero Yvon Chouinard, he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life and prepares himself for a rare summit of Cerro Corcovado. Jeff’s life turns when he meets up with an older and wiser Chouinard, while he is in Patagonia to help save its wildlands. You can purchase the film here: 180 South or at Patagonia stores everywhere starting June 8th.

About the Soundtrack:

The Soundtrack was put together by Emmett Malloy, and features new music from Ugly Casanova (which features Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse), James Mercer (The Shins, Broken Bells), Mason Jennings, and Jack Johnson (a cover of Greg Brown’s Spring Wind).  You can preorder it from our online store or request it at your local music retailer. It will be available June 22nd

New Music from Matt Costa and Zee Avi coming soon!

Matt Costa spent over a year and half on the road after the release of Unfamiliar Faces, headlining clubs as well as opening for artists like Modest Mouse, Oasis and Ryan Adams.  When he returned home, he rented a recording studio in Orange County, and started learning how to record the songs he was writing.  The songs are beautifully layered with reverb, stacked harmonies, and guitars.  We are looking forward to a fall release, but we’ll let you know more soon.

Zee Avi’s self titled debut album was released last year, and she’s been busy touring the world to support it ever since. The album has gone gold in her home country of Malaysia, as well as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.  She will be playing several dates on this Summer’s Lilith Fair Festival and will be opening dates for Jack in October. Click here to view all of Zee Avi’s upcoming tour dates. Several great tracks did not make it onto her debut album, and one of them and remixes of 3 other songs will be released in July on a digital only EP. More details to come.

Santa Monica Beach Clean-Up and free Santa Monica Pier show pics

Santa Monica
Photos by Emmett Malloy and Kim Johnson

A big thank you to everyone that came out and worked with us and Heal The Bay on Saturday to clean the beach in Santa Monica.

There were 3000 folks on the pier and over 10,000 more down on the beach.

Thanks to our fans and Sustainable Works for making sure the beach was as clean as we found it at the end of the show.

A few local and national news outlets came out and reported on the event, and you can check out MTV’s thoughts here
